Boranup & Margaret River Region

The Margaret River region is renowned for stunning landscapes, caves, forests, wineries, beaches and surf breaks. The Boranup Cottage is situated 24kms south of Margaret River, off Caves Road. Browse the Boranup Fine Timber & Art Gallery or brunch at the popular Pies & Ale café. The cottage is ideally located within reach of all that the Margaret River region has to offer while providing seclusion and a relaxed space.

The forest

Karri & Jarrah Forest of the South West.

Set among the giant Karri trees, some over 60 meters tall, Boranup Cottage, is located in the ideal location. Native wildlife, wildflowers, orchids and fungi fill the area with a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

A highlight of spending time staying at Boranup Cottage is relaxing in the Eucalypt forest, in which the cottage resides. Boranup Drive, located close to the cottage, offers a unique tourist driving experience through the picturesque forest to Boranup lookout. This two wheel drive track has bush walks and picnic spots along the way.

Boranup Cottage also makes a great base at which to stay while you walk the Cape to Cape Track. Also for walkers and riders alike, the Wardandi Track runs relatively close by the Cottage.

The beaches

Boranup Beach & Hamelin Bay.

Boranup Beach is the closest beach to Boranup Cottage and can be accessed via four wheel drive tracks through the forest. Boranup Beach offers surfing, fishing and relaxing.

Hamelin Bay sits tucked away, in the southern end of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park, and is the best area for safe swimming. People travel from all over the world to come and see the wild stingrays that frequent the beach here.

The caves

Giants Cave, Lake Cave & other caves.

For the more adventurous visitors, Giants Cave is located about five to ten minutes from Boranup Cottage and offers a self guided experience. The eighty six meter deep cave system offers half a kilometre of vertical ladder climbs, rock scrambles and tight spot negotiating to gigantic chambers. The entry price includes helmets, torches and a safety briefing. Remember to wear enclosed footwear and take your time to enjoy the incredible limestone stalagmite and stalactite structures.

Other caves in the Boranup region, along Caves Road, include Lake Cave, Mammoth Cave and Calgardup Cave. All the the caves have entry fees, some are self-guided and others are part of a tour; all are well worth a visit.
